Product Description GoPro's HD Motorsports HERO is the world's highest performance 1080p HD on-board video and still photo camera. Professional quality 1080p, 960p and 720p HD resolutions record at 30 frames per second (60 fps in 720p). The HD Motorsports HERO easily mounts to any helmet, motorcycle, ATV, car, plane, jet ski, boat, snowmobile or other vehicle. The camera's quick-release mounting design makes it easy to re-position the camera around your vehicle for professional quality HD video from several angles. Record up to 2.5 hours on a single charge and up to 9 hours total on a 32GB SD card (not included). Included are mounts for two helmets and three vehicles, as well as a suction cup for maximum versatility and convenience. The housing is waterproof to 180' / 60m. GoPro's obsession with sound has conquered the wind. At 85 mph on a motorcycle, you'll enjoy the throaty sound of your motor, not the wind. Inside even the quietest street cars, hear the pull of your motor...not the drone of the wind and road. Included is a 1100mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lasts for up to 2.5 hours of constant recording. With optional accessories, you can also plug the camera into a wall outlet, cigarette lighter, or with any USB-compatible power adapter, wire it directly to your vehicle's electrical system. The battery will charge while you record. The camera can also shoot automatic 5MP photos at 2/5/10/30 and 60 second intervals during your drive or ride, hands free. Pre

Super Sports Camera January 4, 2010 Paul Claxton (RIverside CA) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I bought this HD camera to replace a VholdR Wearable Camcorder (Black) which didn't survive getting run over by my SUV. The Hero is a well constructed camera, very solid feeling with quality construction.
Pros: The camera has four modes - video (in several resolutions), still pictures, self-timer still pictures, and interval photos (pictures every few seconds). The lens gives a tremendously wide wild view which is nice for HD's 9:16. It will shoot 1080p, 960p 720p (at 30 and 60 frames per second), and 480 (at 60 frames per second) line resolutions. It uses standard SDHC memory cards and has an internal battery which recharges via a USB cable. The recorded audio is very good both inside and outside of the motor sports waterproof case that came with my kit. Video is relatively good, not as vivid as a dedicated camcorder but the resolution is good. My kit came with a variety of mounts and a suction cup mount for windows and car body use. The waterproof case comes with two backs, one that is watertight and one that is not for better audio when waterproof use isn't required. The kit comes with connectors for connecting the camera up to an HDTV monitor (component video) or a TV monitor (composite video). A neat feature in the menu is that you can flip both the video and still photos so you can shoot with the camera upside down without a problem.
Cons: The quick release mounts have a bit of wiggle to them. The back of the waterproof case can be difficult to lock closed. The menu system is a bit troublesome to use as there are only two buttons and three LCD characters to use. Once set you'll not have to go into the menu very often.
Future: There's a connector on the rear that GoPro plans on using for an external battery or a monitor. Neither are available at the time of this review but they are being worked on.
In use on the trail the mounts worked very well. I used the suction cup primarily to mount the camera to my windshield, bumper, side body panel, and side window. Across rugged rocky trails the camera held firm and the video came out very well. The simple interface was easy enough to use. One button to turn the camera on and select the mode and another to stop and start the recording.
Lot's of fun! January 20, 2010 Douglas W. Teeter (Tucson, Arizona, USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought the camera to film dual sport rides on my Husqvarna TE610. I bought a 32Gig card and the mounting kit.
The camera is pretty easy to use and once you go through the menu a couple of times it's easy.
I takes great movies but the extreme wide angle makes things hard to see ahead very far and it's hard to see
evevation changes IE up and down hills. I tried different methods of viewing the movies and I like Quicktime
the best. Uploading to U-tube takes hours and you have to be careful not to go over 10 minutes or U-tube won't
take it. I'm sure there is some way to get around that but haven't figured it out yet.
Overall very pleased. On a motorcycle the hard mount does not work well. I use the helmet srap on mount that
comes with the camera, works great.
Also check around for prices, after I purchased this from Amazon I found the same deal on E-bay for $50 less.

GoPro HD March 15, 2010 S. Capozzi (State College, PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got the this camera a few weeks ago and I am SO glad I did. I have had NO problems with it whatsoever. It is extremely durable, completely waterproof, and the video quality is fantastic.
Battery: I charged the camera ONCE when I got it and it lasted well over a week of playing around with. On a full charge, I was able to use it for an ENTIRE day of snowboarding and it barely used half of the battery.
Lens: Yes, it does fisheye a bit due to the wide angle lens, but I personally like the look and it makes so much more visible to the frame.
Mounts: Stuck one to a snowboard, one to my helmet and they haven't budged. The bolt it is tightened with just has to tight or the camera can rotate up or down. The suction mount is extremely strong and I bet it would hold at 100 mph.
SD Card: I have a SanDisk 16 GB Class 6, and it works great. For some reason, the camera doesn't show up as a drive when plugged into the computer via USB, but I use a card reader so it hasn't been a problem.
Navigation: This is about the only thing I could complain about. The waterproof case gives the buttons a bit more resistance, and as far as the unit itself, it navigates somewhat slowly (about 1.5 second response time after each button press). There are a ton of settings and options, though.
Resolutions: The only ones I have used are 720x1280p at 60 fps, which is LIQUID smooth, and 1920x1080p, which looks beautiful (the more lighting there is, the better. On a sunny day, the footage is GORGEOUS. However, is low light situations, you can encounter grain, so be sure there is ample lighting to ensure high quality.
Here is a snowboard video I made with it: [...]
Definitely worth the money, but I got mine for $[...], not $[...].
Highly recommended.
Compared prices and then bought Motorsport April 11, 2010 Philip B. Roux 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I dont need to tell you how awsome the GoPro HD Hero is. I really wanted it. I also wanted the suction cup to connect it to flat surfaces.
so i compared the price of the HD Hero Helmet + suction cup to the HD Hero Motorsport + Head strap (the vented helmet strap i didnt want) and found out, that it was cheaper to go with the Motorsport.
It seems everyone wants the Helmet, therefore there was a good deal on the Motorsport.
Just compare prices before you shop. And the suction cup is just awsome!
GoProHd Hero..Great little camera April 16, 2010 John Fitzgerald (Tucson,AZ) The GoProHd Hero is a perfect camera for racing or just about any sport, the picture quality is great, the unit is small and the operation is quite simple. The case is rugged and waterproof and it has replacable lens protectors(optional). It comes with a variety of mounting options, however, i would like to see a ball head type mount for more versatility, it could easily be done using a rubber ball and metal clamp/set screw much like the omnimount speaker mounts. Other than that, this is a great little camera and i highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to video their racing/sports activities.
